Costa Rica, a peaceful tropical country,  plenty of friendly, well educated and hardworking people, who lives with no army since 1948. It combines the best geographic, technical, infrastructural and budget conditions for your shooting.

Most main worldwide Hotel groups are in Costa Rica. You can find comfortable accomodation for executive travelers in the Central Valley as well as spectacular beach resorts. Casting

Costa Rican culture is in many ways a result of the racial diversity. There is a few indian population which keeps their traditions and culture. European inmigrants, specially from Spain, Africans and Asians, Chinese, Hebrews, Italians, have influenced both, the culture and the physical appeareance of the Costa Rican people.

Economical Information

Costa Rica is also a country full of advantages for cinematographic production in terms of budget. The rates for technical equipment rental and the crew fees, as well as hotel rates, transportation and meals are very lower than shooting in any other country with the same conditions. Communications

The Instituto Costarricense de Electricidad (ICE), provides a reliable source of modern communications: MIDA automatic phone call system, mobile service, Internet and data transmission by satellites and microwave systems are available in almost every place all over the country.

Locations

Paradise white or dark sand beaches cover both the Pacific and the Atlantic coasts, imposing volcanoes, rainforest, cloud forest, mangrove swamps, river rapids, lowland rivers, waterfalls, mysterious underground caverns… everything a production could need. The best golf courts of the region, five stars hotels, cruises, prime rated malls, as well as interesting towns and typical rustic houses, are only a few examples of what you can expect from Costa Rica.

Transportation: air or land

The main airport in Costa Rica is Juan Santamaria International Airport, 20 minutes far from San Jose. But if you plan to film in the Pacific coast, the Daniel Oduber International Airport in Liberia, Guanacaste, minutes away from beaches and hotels, should be your choice.

Costa Rica is surprisingly accessible by land. Highways and roads connect most of the beaches, volcanoes, rivers and other tourist attractions. Anyway, using sport utility vehicles may be recommendable. You can rent them at very good rates.

Weather

Costa Rica has a pleasant tropical weather, with an average temperature of 22° C (72° F) which increases a lot in the coast areas. There is a dry season from December to April and a rainy season from May to November. Even in this last one we usually enjoy sunny mornings althogh we expect rain every afternoon.

Geographic Information

From the sea level of our two oceans up to the Chirripo Mountain, 3,819 meters high, Costa Rica is the country with the greatest flora and fauna diversity for each square kilometre in the entire world (0,03% of the Earth surface has the 6% of he existing biodiversity). 25.58 % of Costa Rican territory is preserved as National Parks and Protected Areas.
